Exhortation to Prayer
Thank you to the following contributory influences: , , , , , and .
Perfection in the presence thereof, salve of neuroticism and doubt.
Not a spent second wasted. No horror, no denial, no failure, no rushing, no solipsistic abuse of self-awareness. Banishing childish dreams of magical powers, of becoming a god, of being alone, of being ‘neutral,’ being exceptional, being outside here, of being above it all and it all being forgotten and free, without any of the ‘oh, he/she’s really into that stuff’ “ick”-condescending performative discomfort to keep yourself anywhere but here.
Speak. Bridge over all forms of regret, anxiety, and look! Look behind them. False meekness, falsely self-evident ‘just being a person’ normalcy: “Well, I’d really rather not…” It is coiled. Politics has us well-acquainted with every false appearance the antagonistic ego and bitterness can hide behind.
The example is covered, so put it aside, don’t dwell as it dwells. Face love and acceptance, and it is painful. Painful because it is perfect and naturally unexcessive in being so. For a mere man, it is at first a flameless fire rushing up your face, within and without as a ghost, forcing all there that should not reside to jump out the window of the eyes. Accept it, then tone it back. Don’t blow it all up with overenthusiasm and take it away from its formative condition.
No more imagining stupid things, ruminating on petty things, scaring yourself with terrible things, embarrassing yourself with things only you remember, having nothing to mind but cheap things, or falling into weird or perverse things.
Heaven’s powers reach to you. Rest in them.
Rest in them forever.
