Non-White Kills 73-Year-Old Grandmother & Makes Chilling Admission
Tyler Leibelt, 19, confesses to having bought the murder just moments prior to the brutal killing and was known to the police long before the murder.
Santa Cruz, California—A kind California art gallery manager and grandmother, well known and beloved by her local community, has been savagely murdered by an unhinged non-White man. But that isn’t the worst part.
Rachel Summers, 73, was stabbed at least 11 times outside Capitola Mall in Santa Cruz County in a random act of violence in broad daylight noon last Monday.
19-year-old Tyler Leibelt was arrested and charged with her murder. He also faces another charge for using a deadly weapon.

Court documents obtained by KSBW reveal that after considering several possible victims while lying in wait just outside the Capitola Mall, Leibelt decided to race up to Summers and stabbed her in the back.
Prosecutors reveal that Summers suffered multiple stab wounds to her back, but she also tried to fight back, suffering defensive stab wounds to her forearms, and to her center chest.
Leibelt then proceeded to run into the mall after the killing, leaving a trail of Summer’s blood. Leibelt also tossed the murder weapon—a knife he had purchased only moments before the killing.
He went to a nearby gas station to purchase the a beverage, before calling the police to confess his crime.
While being interrogated by the police, Leibelt made a startling confession:
“He indicated that he had had homicidal fantasies for a while and that he had previously disclosed these fantasies, but he ‘kept getting let out’ of custody.”
And that he had “sustained thoughts and fantasies about murdering someone… he has had them since puberty.”
A court filing obtained by KSBW additionally revealed that Leibelt had a November gun violence restraining order issued against him.
Sheriff’s deputies are also stating that Leibelt had “expressed a desire to cause a mass casualty event.” They also noted that he “wrote a goodbye letter expressing a desire to kill as many people as possible.”
Per the Daily Mail, Leibelt appeared in court on Wednesday for his arraignment, which has been continued until July 29.
He is being held without bail.
Summers had just become a grandmother last year and leaves behind her daughter and her grandchild. A GoFundMe has been set up to take care of her grandchild’s college fund.
At the time of her death, Summers had been writing an illustrated children’s book inspired by her grandchild.
