Kaden Manuel Lewish Shurm, 18, was reported as “nibbling” on a 9-day-old baby’s cheek before repeatedly biting in a forceful “chomping down” motion.
Shurm was arrested and charged with felony battery with injury to a person under 14.
A pediatrician first alerted Child Protective Services (CPS) to the infant’s injuries on July 14th, prompting a probe by the Bloomington Police Department.
Shrum, confessed that he bit the child to silence it at around 4 a.m.—initially “nibbling” before escalating until the newborn’s face resembles a “busted up egg.”
Shrum was arrested at the hospital; the baby’s current condition remains unknown.
It was not immediately clear if Shrum and the child had any relation.
The lunatic also faces felony charges in separate cases for battery with a deadly weapon and criminal recklessness, as well as a misdemeanor battery charge.
Shrum briefly posted a $5,500 bond on the child abuse charge on July 21 before being re-arrested on a bond revocation warrant for the prior cases.
